Please join us for the presentation of “The Square of Changes” photobook @ the Belarusian Youth Hub in Warsaw. “The Square of Changes” is a project by Yauhen Attsetski, a photographer and a resident of one of the blocks of flats in the vicinity of the famous Minsk backyard that spoke out against violence and electoral fraud in 2020 in Belarus. The neighbors of the houses nearby got together to protest and support one another, as well as other Minsk citizens. During 2020-2021, Yauhen was documenting his community’s life and captured all the significant events that unfolded at the backyard - from the appearance of the first mural with “the DJs of change” to the memorial events held in honor of the deceased Roman Bondarenko, kidnapped by the unknown from the playground next to his house. “The Square of Changes” project consists of several components: • a photobook, for the publication of which the Belarusians raised more than 10,000 USD through a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign; • a multimedia site that reconstructs the timeline of “the Square of Changes” using various visual tools; • a series of exhibitions. The author of the project concept, as well as other team members are going to present the photobook and the website and answer the questions of the audience. After the talk, the books are going to be distributed to sponsors who supported its release on Kickstarter platform.
