Alexey Novik was an independent observer at the presidential election in 2020. After seeing the final voting results report he was planning to go home. Public transport wasn’t functioning; Internet was blocked, so he had to go home on foot to the other side of the city. Huge number of police and military forces in the city centre did not cause any anxiety or worry in him. Everything changed when people in uniform blocked his way. They started to throw flashbang grenades at people and fired teargas. It reminded Alexey of chronicles of Hitler’s time when death squads burned all flesh on their way.
