Watching Acid Bath headline after the thunderous Neurosis set was… an experience. Neurosis had just finished sounding like the gates of Hell being ripped off their hinges, and then Acid Bath walked onstage looking like a tribute band that had somehow been given the headline slot. Calling today’s Acid Bath a sludge band is already being extremely generous. What remains is a pale, nostalgic copy of what this band once was — with enough Alice In Chains worship to make anyone unfamiliar with the history wonder if they accidentally walked into a Layne Staley tribute show. There is, of course, something undeniably bizarre and fascinating about seeing Acid Bath onstage in 2026. It’s just hard to shake the feeling that we were watching a tribute to a band that used to be Acid Bath.
