Sometimes a festival lineup makes you question the basic laws of physics. Neurosis were phenomenal. Absolutely crushing, monumental, and exactly the kind of band that should have closed the night in Asheville. Instead, they played their set and then handed the stage over to Acid Bath. Yes, after Neurosis. Watching one of the most important bands in the history of post-metal deliver a devastating performance, only to realize that the actual headliner was still waiting in the wings, was a slightly surreal experience. Neurosis should have closed this festival. There was no need for an unnecessary Acid Bath epilogue.
