Gwar played Greensboro on their "The Return of GOR GOR" tour, and it was... expectedly insane. The legendary band is now 40 years old, and honestly, it's getting harder for them to pack big venues. But they've found a solution: aging and, sadly, dying members are systematically replaced with fresh blood, and the level of signature madness at their concerts is only turned up.
The classic dousing of the audience with multi-colored liquids has evolved from a gimmick into a genuine, slightly obsessive extravaganza—though the ecstatic crowd seems to be all for it.
What's new is the more noticeable political commentary. The vocalist actively waved an American flag, and calls to "bring the bombs home" and similar sentiments rang out from the stage.
Despite all the challenges and provocations, the audience is absolutely thrilled. And you can understand why—GWAR's show remains excellent, fun, and incredibly spectacular. And what else does a person need in these terrifying times?
